...the transformation from boozer to acid disciple seemed to happen overnight with eric, one moment glugging down alcohol with a hell hound close on his trail, the next he's grooving in the glades with a goodly dose of sandoz floating through his system enabling the visions to arise and blow his mind...with this LP eric was getting hep to the new world that was taking shape, the psychedelic vibe was spreading fast, no longer would he visit the house down new orleans way, he was loved up and feeling spaced out groovy...sitars twang, violins scrape, overlaid vocals, modal jamming all crop up giving the requisite wig lifting experience, church organs/gregorian chant (like the yardbirds but more stoned, more intense) start a real doom laiden tune, sort of edgar allen poe on a bum trip...what is obvious after a few listens is the stone solid fact that erics trips were many and varied, some taking him places he may not have wished to visit, bit the experience was not lost, he didn't panic and flip out completely, never to return like a certain habitue of cambridge...eric joined the dots to make an alternative blissed world that would run in amongst the cubes from squaresville, subverting the cats to the wobbly zone where it was all cool strobe lights whilst lying on a bed of flowers that would never wilt...here in the 21st century all a cats got to do is take a toke or two and spin this wax and its the summer of love once more...
...a continuation of erics earlier voyage into acid burble that started on 'winds of change', his adherence to all things groovy just kept on keeping on, trying to show the new ways of thinking and being, leaving the square world behind for good...exploring the inner spaceways that he had so long tried to destroy with the boozing, he discovered the wonderment that was within the human psyche and without, the worlds within worlds...more than a few rock-snobs have put these psychedelic joints down as naive and not up to standard (whatever that might be) but the truth is as it seems, eric was on a mission like no other rock star of the times, he really wanted the populace to turn on and dig the scene, dig the vibrations that surround all right thinking heads, to be groovy and spread the positive vibes, venture into the never ending trip in the search for some 'truth'...stereo panning/effects litter the tunes and make for a cool listen that stand up now and forever more...
