...one of the most sussed rock'n'roll combos of all time...these cats had the sus from the getgo when all others had not a clue...in the city of the angels the beatnix, hooligans and riffraff galore came to check the seeds whose talents were legendary on the burgeoning underground scene and also with the local top40 following chicks...one, and possibly their most important talent was conceptual continuity in the riff department and cosmic life affirming poetry...when it came to recycling riffs the seeds had and have no competition...these cats wrote the greatest rocking riff ever with 'pushin' too hard' from the first LP and they had the forsight to know that a riff if used correctly will last a lifetime...the use of the phrase 'night 'n day' shows frontman sky had a cosmic awareness that the sun will shine in the morning allowing for another day to follow the previous night, a wonderful sense of the positive allowing for light to shine at the end of the dark tunnel that often envelops the troubled soul...another talent was becoming the stones during the lady jane velvet collar period...if ever a small rest was taken from the riff that ruled these cats had visions they were the stones of the sunset strip and became wistful and hep with beautiful chelsea kings road vibrations which in turn lead to sneaky hep lyrics that included many pharmaceutical references...the main track on this platter has got to be the 14 minute jam that ends the proceedings, showing that they knew the moves in trance jamming(possibly)better than the velvets and thats a monumental feat in any cats estimation...one of the truely bossest combos to ever walk the walk of the hollywood alleyways in the dangerous hours between night and day...
...3rd LP from these LA punksters, doyens of the sunset strip, dropped in early '67, just in time to cash in on the emerging flower power craze that was hitting big in certain locales (sky has tried many times in the past to claim credit for starting the whole flower power shenanigans, skys belief in his own importance to groovy times is paramount to understanding the incredible vibe that comes from these tunes)...extremely cool sounds that really need the headphones to get that extra buzz...some punk snobs dont want to deal with this one, as its a bit off the tracks thats normally trodden by this combo, what with all the sound of extra instuments in the background that help give it that hep summer of love vibration, but if and a cat reads the liner notes they'll see that any other sounds not emanating from the group is purely in the listeners head, so that clears that up...great wax and still lots of fun with skys up to the minute flower poetry...
