frumious bandersnatch

...cats hep to the frisco scene from the late six-ohs will remember this zonked-zone combo who managed to knock out one self helped extended play and nearly got inked with two majors during the feedin frenzy for the next big thing but their then manager liked the chemicals and sauce too much and let everything fall apart in double quick time...no matter, for what's happening on this coaster of demos and live recordings is well up to snuff...great clouds of ballroom screach underpinned with some obvious knowledge of greazy r'n'b swagger...mindfrying guitar blasts show these cats were right up there in the major league but circumstances dictated they would remain a footnote in psycho-underground culture...

...cats who dig combos like tripsichord music box/KAK will flip with this LP of the bandersnatch studio recordings, including some seriously long versions of tunes that appeared on the cd comp that came out in the mid '90s, that compilation was a mindblowing ear opener as to how cool these cats were back in the day, one of the only combos to get anywhere near translating psychedelic ballroom noodle into some proper studio jams...if this had been a legit LP release back in 1968 they'd sure given QMS something to think about, especially the messy happy trails wax which nowadays is somewhat difficult to get into (first side anyhows)...wiglifting, blast-bombs of mindshattering string-bending over a tripped out blues choogle make this one of the finest pure examples of haight ashbury acid leakage ever, a ballroom light show experience for the mind, a magic carpet ride into the white light...
