...ESP-Disk sure had the real out there folks back then in them there 6oh times and patty sure was out there if nowhere else...not too many got to really dig her stuff back then and if they did they'd not know what to think, at least for a while as there's some strange things happening that's for sure...for a while on the first 7 tracks she's a nightclub pianist/singer from some part of greenwich village where the hep boho hooligans hang and not from the clubs that let johnny staccato in...track 8 sees the whole shebang upend and some kind of avant clatter noise springs up and patty gets to grips with what's on her mind and by the sounds of it it's a pretty heavy scene...the rest of this disk is taken up with her follow up a live college engagement and this is the real deal...patty's shreiking is full on and she really blows up a storm while the cats backing her are some hep beatnik dads from the ESP label and they kick up some high energy free spirit splat...pat throws in some cool nightclub vibes here and there just to give some space and tension to the evening (give the audience a rest from the noise onslaught as well, most college goers were still square when it came to the out grooves of free(d) jazzboing)...what is nice also about this release is the tape hiss has been left on to give it the same impact on the listeners today as when it was newer-than-new...total rage from begining to end, seperating heads from civilians is a stone gone conclusion and solid possibility...
